The Inagural San Diego Festival Of Books Is Next Week

The inaugural San Diego Festival of Books will be held on Saturday, August 26th, at Liberty Station in Point Loma.  The Festival starts at 10am, and wraps up at 6pm.  The Festival celebrates all things reading and writing, and the important role books play in our lives.  It will connect San Diegans with other readers, writers, booksellers, and others who love everything books.

The Festival features over 40 of our wonderful San Diego authors, many of whom will be participating in panel discussions and book signings.  There will be an Author Alley & an Exhibitor area, where you can find writers, publishers, bookstores, and many other vendors.  There will also be a Children's Pavilion, featuring authors, story readings, & live entertainment.

There is a full schedule of 15 panel discussions, to be held at various locations in Liberty Station throughout the day.  The Children's Pavilion also has a full day lineup.  Some of the writers participating include:  T. Jefferson Parker, Renee Carlino, Matt Coyle, Stephanie Diaz, Steve Breen, Shilpi Somaya Gowda, Brian Alexander, Sally J. Pla, Neal Griffin, Angie Brenner, Benjamin Berger, Corey Lynn Fayman, Scott Sigler, Susan Meissner, and so many more!

The One Book, One San Diego book selection was, initially, supposed to be announced at the book festival, however, they chose to reveal the winner last week, in advance of the festival.  KPBS will be giving away 300 copies of the selected book, The Sandcastle Girls, by Chris Bohjlian at the festival.

Admission to the San Diego Festival of Books is FREE.  However, to attend a panel, you must purchase a ticket.  Tickets are $3.00 per person, per panel.  $1.00 from each ticket purchase will be donated to the San Diego Council On Literacy.  So come on out, meet our local authors, support our independent bookstores, mingle with other readers, and enjoy a wonderful day!
