The San Diego Book Awards Association is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting, and recognizing, local published and unpublished authors. They hold an annual competition, which culminates in an awards ceremony, wherein the winners are announced. A minimum of three judges are selected to read each book submitted in each category. The judges evaluations of the submissions are averaged between them. The overall score is combined, and the judge's choice of genre winner helps determine the order of the finalists, and the SDBA winner.
