Gill Sotu Takes Part In Jacobs Presents "Poets & Painters" Event

Gill Sotu is an award-winning spoken word artist and playwright.  He effortlessly combines the artistic elements of poetry, music, & dee-jaying, turning poetry into musical performances, and improvisational songs into hosting gigs.  His work has a forceful undercurrent of soulful, comedic, & thought-provoking passion, that engages and inspires his audiences.

Sotu has opened for the Grammy-nominated legend, Sheila E, partnered and performed with the San Diego Symphony, has been commissioned to create numerous poetry pieces for the United Way of San Diego, and performed for TEDx San Diego in December 2013.  Sotu is currently the Artist In Residence at the Jacobs Center for Neighborhood Innovation, which has commissioned Sotu to write & direct two full-length plays.

Sotu will be a featured artist at the Jacobs Presents, "Poets & Painters" festival on June 24th.  The festival is a day of poetry, spoken word, dance, and graffiti art, featuring Gill Sotu, and a long lineup of fantastic and talented artists. There will be storytelling, hands-on activities, a spoken word poetry slam competition, graffiti arts competition, live performances of music, dance, and performance poetry, a family storytelling stage, graffiti artists creating live murals, and hands-on workshops.
