Partners in Crime, the San Diego chapter of the national organization, Sisters in Crime, welcomes local author and chapter member, Martin Roy Hill, as our speaker on Saturday, July 8th. Hill is the author of the Peter Brandt mystery, "The Killing Depths", the sci-fi novella, "Eden", and the award-winning short story collection, "Duty". "The Butcher’s Bill", his sequel to "The Killing Depths", was released in June 2017.
Hill will be speaking on the subject: Violence 101: A Primer for Writers, and will focus on the impact of violent injuries on victims. Hill has special expertise in this subject, as he has been a medic in 3 branches of the military. As a medical service corps officer in the California National Guard, he helped train combat medics for Iraq and Afghanistan. He has served as both a wilderness search-and-rescue (SAR) medic, and a tactical medic for his local sheriff's department. He has also been an EMT on a federal Disaster Medical Assistance Team. In his “day job”, he is a U.S. Navy analyst in combat casualty care.
July’s reader will be chapter member, Marcia Buompensiero, who writes the Theo Hunter mystery series, under the name Loren Zahn. She will read from her new novel, "Sumerland", which won first place in the mystery category at the 2017 San Diego Book Awards.
