Short Tales From The Mothership: A Writing & Spoken Word Project At UCSD

Short Tales From The Mothership is a micro-fiction project of UCSD's Geisel Library, in partnership with The Writing + Critical Expression Hub at the Teaching + Learning Commons.  The third installment of the project will take place on Tuesday, October 17th, 2017, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the UCSD Geisel Library, in the Seuss Room.  The event is FREE and open to the public.

If you want to participate, writers should send fantasy or science fiction pieces of no more than 250 words to Scott Paulson at spaulson@ucsd.edu, prior to the live reading.  At the event, you will have the opportunity to read your entry, or have it read aloud for you by someone else.  All are welcome to come listen to these short stories from the beyond!

Short Tales From The Mothership is a celebration of an elegant genre, by listening to short tales from fellow futurists, time-travelers, inventors, artists and writers.  This evening is inspired by the short postcard stories that magazine editor George Hay encouraged in the 1970’s.  He dared authors such as Arthur C. Clarke to send sci-fi stories that easily fit onto a postcard.

Otherworldly libations from our refreshment laboratory will be served, along with live Theremin & synthesizer musical interludes.  Questions and general inquiries can be directed to Scott Paulson at spaulson@ucsd.edu or (858) 822-5758.
