Author David Sedaris brought stories new and old to the Balboa Theatre Thursday night, as part of UCSD's Art Power program. Sedaris is the author of Barrel Fever and Holidays on Ice, Naked, Me Talk Pretty One Day, Dress Your Family in Corduroy and Denim, When You Are Engulfed in Flames, and Let’s Explore Diabetes with Owls, each of which became immediate best sellers. He his newest book, a collection of his diaries, is titled Theft by Finding: Diaries (1977–2002).
At the event, he informed the audience that he is working on releasing the second half of his diaries, from approximately 2003-2017, which he plans to title, A Carnival of Snackery, an idea he got from a Indian restaurant menu. He also said that he is working on another collection of essays, to be published in 2018. He read a few of those essays Thursday night.
