Samuel Clemens Fans Can Get Their Twain On At TwainFest

Love Mark Twain?  Are you a fan of other 19th century writers?  Enjoy performance art?  Interested in literature and history?  Want something fun and educational for the whole family?  Then TwainFest is for you!  TwainFest is a celebration of Mark Twain, and other writers of the 19th century.  Works by Mark Twain, Walt Whitman, Emily Dickinson, Harriet Beecher Stowe, Edgar Allan Poe and more, will be read aloud by San Diego actors.  The full schedule of events is not complete yet, but includes activities such as:  sack races, ring toss, marbles, and other games of the period, that will be played on the green in Old Town.  Other activities are the 19th century Community Spelling Bee, and contributing to the Never Ending Story.

TwainFest is produced by Write Out Loud, Fiesta De Reyes and Old Town San Diego State Historic Park.  Founded by Veronica Murphy and Walter Ritter, Write Out Loud delivers a unique entertainment experience. A typical Write Out Loud performance includes short stories & poetry by different authors, from different time periods, all related to a central theme identified for a given performance. Accomplished actors bring the narration, characters, and nuances of the stories to life.

TwainFest will take place on August 19th, in Old Town Historic Park.  It is FREE, and fun for all ages!
